6 weeks!

I cant believe it has already been 6 weeks. One way to lose (or not remember) a few weeks of your life is to have a baby. We had our first outing to the Katy volleyball game this week. You hear about all the bad habits that they can have - rocking them to sleep, holding them too much. I am afraid we have started one... girls in spandex. He was more awake and excited to be there than he had been in a while and I dont think it was because he loves the game. (Even though he has been around it more than he knows and even played in one at 19 weeks... no diving.) He is less googly-eyed and starting to focus more which makes him seem more like a real person. Although it could be wishful thinking, we *think* he is trying to smile (in between the crying, grunting and sleeping) I can only hope to catch that on camera soon.

A little background info

I guess I should start from the beginning. To make a long story short:

- At 32 weeks we went in for an ultrasound to see how big he was. The conversation with the US tech went as follows:

Me - "Im nervous to see how big this baby is."

Her - "Nah, you dont have to start worrying for a couple more weeks, they are just starting to put on weight and get big at this point."

Measuring - - Measuring - - Measuring (3 times just to be sure)

Her - "Haha, maybe you should be worried, his head is measuring 36.5 weeks, his body 35 and his legs 32. He weighs 5lb 7 oz. Haha, good luck! Go wait to see your dr."

Us - "Uhh, awesome."

- Skip to 36 weeks - measuring at 42 weeks, 8lb 9oz. Yikes!

On to 38 weeks - Went in for an induction on August 21st because Dr. Schmidt, "didn't want this baby over 9 lbs"

- Got to the hospital before the sun came up (didnt sleep much the night before)

- Hooked up to the pitocen at 6:30

- Sat and watched my mom and trey watch the contraction monitor as they felt the need to let me know how strong the contractions were with, "oooh, that was a big one."...... No kidding.

- Got tired of listening to them so the anesthesiologist was promptly called at 10:30.

- Now im ok with them saying this because I cant feel a thing.

- 12:15 Nurse Karen, who was a riot, proclaimed, "we are going to have this baby in a hot minute."

- Me: "Wait, what!?!? I was getting ready to take a nap. I need a few minutes."

- At 12:45 to the tune of Nurse Karen going, "Holy $&*% thats a big baby, he showed up.

Why a blog?

Ive never really been in to these things, but now that we are a new family of 3, people want to know. (About him, not us) So I made this to keep updates going since Wyatt seems to be changing every day and so many new things are happening all the time. - - Like he slept through the night for the first time while the hurricane was blowing through - we thought we had turned a corner. We were wrong. The night after, back to his old self of up every 2-3 hours. This is him 'hunkering down' waiting for the hurricane.
